Trauma

Treating trauma is a specialty of mine and I have over 10+ years of experience working in this area of mental health. I received my Trauma Recovery Certificate from Widener University, certified in EMDR and trained in IFS informed EMDR and Trauma Informed CBT.

Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing

EMDR is a structured psychotherapy that supports individuals in healing from the symptoms of their past traumas. With the utilization of bilateral stimulation as you’re recalling a distressing event, this approach helps the brain to re-process memories and reduce their emotional and physical impacts to your present life.

Mindfulness

Having a mindfulness approach to treating trauma helps to decrease emotional pain and physical sensations from traumatic experiences. You will learn how to calm your own nervous system through the use of mindful techniques, such as guided meditations, body movement and engaging in your five senses. By learning how your body responds to your own thoughts, feelings, emotions and past memories, you will be able to stay rooted in the present as you explore your past in this process of healing.

IFS Informed EMDR

IFS or Internal Family Systems therapy is an evidence-based therapy that helps people understand and heal their inner parts, or sub-personalities, to restore inner balance and harmony, and to improve their relationships and overall well-being. IFS-Informed EMDR therapy combines both to help people heal from trauma and other distressing experiences.
